Sea Hunt presented an intriguing and dramatic episode for its third showing of its second season on the air. Entitled Underwater Security, it starts out with a suspenseful and uncertain beginning. The narration, spoken by Lloyd Bridges in the voice of his character, deep sea diving expert Mike Nelson, leads us to believe he’s being forced to do some kind of sabotage. It’s all quite intense, even

as he’s caught and brought back to a top secret facility. What is exciting about this opening third of the show is that you aren’t sure what is happening. However, while I did think it was going to be some other type of story, before the punch line was revealed, I figured it out. Two points for me!

Ultimately, Nelson has his hands full because some real saboteurs ...

      • release a torpedo in the underground chamber that leads to the plant, thereby ensuring a massive explosion of devastating proportions, including the loss of life. It’s up to Nelson to save the day.

However, that is the same thing that confuses me. Nelson finds this spot where he needs to store spare tanks because where this tunnel/pipe is, is so far down that he needs more air. In

fact, we see someone else, one of the bad guys, doing the same thing. Yet he goes after them and doesn’t have a single problem, even though he goes all the way to the tunnel. So, there’s a real conflict here.

Still, this was an oddly interesting show. Most of it was under the water, which meant the guest stars didn’t really matter and were mostly the stunt divers.
