I have been a Barbie doll collector since I was about nine. Last year, Mattel released the “Barbie Basics” line of fashion dolls.

This set of twelve dolls are made with the model muse body sculpt- a body type designed to imitate a runway model’s poise, with a skinny frame, graceful lines and posed in

      fashion magazine style.

The faces of this group are all different, and represent some of the finest head molds that Mattel has used over the years, including some like the “Steffie” face, one of my favorites, which was used even as far back as the seventies.

The paint work on these dolls is modern and ...

      • flawless and their hair of the finest design and variety.

They all wear a “little black dress,” each different, and only the best heels! I have so far found each one of these dolls to be of a particularly high standard, and surprisingly, priced at around twenty dollars each, which is more like the “play lines”

        are normally priced.

While these dolls are available in the toy section mass merchandisers like Target and Walmart, they seem more like dolls geared toward the adult collector like myself.

I’ve so far acquired three of this line and I am working on getting all of them for my collection.

Barbie still outshines all of her competitors.
