In some ways, Star Trek: Errand of Mercy reminds me of an episode of Stargate SG-1 called The Nox. While the Organians of Star Trek don’t have the odd look of the Nox from SG-1, these stories are essentially the same. It makes me wonder if SG-1 did another homage to Star Trek (the

SG-1 powers that be do a lot of homages, aka: using plots and themes from other shows).

Regardless, the point here is that Kirk and Spock beam down to this planet to try to warn the Organians about the Klingons. No matter what they say, though, the representative, Ayelborne (John Abbott), isn’t worried, and he ...

      • and his people insist that there isn’t any danger.

John Colicos guest stars as the nasty Klingon, Kor. Colicos is good at villains. He’s done so many roles like this.

I do enjoy Star Trek: Errand of Mercy. It’s a good Kirk/Spock show in that it’s just those two on the planet most of

the time, so we get to see how they work together. There’s a neat moment when Spock is giving their odds on survival and Kirk responds to it. That’s always fun to watch to see how Kirk responds to it.

Overall, Errand of Mercy is a good show, a steady show, though not a terrific one.
