Montgomery Scott (James Doohan) falls in love in Star Trek: The Lights of Zetar. He’s completely smitten with Lt. Mira Romaine (Jan Shutan). We know it’s a doomed romance. They never do well, not even if you get married. After all, Spock got divorced, Kirk’s wife died, and McCoy’s wife

is continuing to rule her people. Scotty already lost one girlfriend to a god, too. It’s doomed from the start.

Naturally, I wasn’t ever surprised to see Mira taken over by some mysterious entity. Before she really goes under, she has a bit of an attitude outburst with McCoy, which was actually quite ...

      • fun. She was whining about this being a new experience and it upsetting her. McCoy reminded her that new experiences is what Starfleet was all about. He was right, but she did have a little point about this being her ‘first’ new experience.

The neat scene has Mira battling for life in

a pressure chamber. That was a bit different for this series.

The best scene was the last one because it was such a hoot. We had Kirk teasing Spock and McCoy because the two of them, and Scotty, all agreed on the same thing. It was cute.

So, not a great episode, but it’s an okay one.
