  • I bought Country Life British Butter recently and was really impressed with how good it tastes and it might be my favourite butter from now on
  • I have purchased many cheap spreads in the past that serve their purpose well enough in 'greasing up' my toast or mashed potatoes or whatever, just so they are at least not too dry, but I have a more discerning palette these days and I enjoy a good butter that is tasty in its own right
  • This is good butter which I think enhances whatever you put with it
  • I know that Country Life do a version of this butter which contains oil to make it spreadable straight from the fridge, but this standard butter I am reviewing does not spread so well straight from the fridge so I take it out prior to mealtimes so it is easier to handle if need be

Country Life is a beautiful butter that tastes so good that I can spread it on toast with nothing else and really enjoy it. It makes mashed potatoes taste better and brings out their flavour. A knob of Country Life Butter melting on a hot corn on the cob is just divine too. This is good butter which I think enhances whatever you put with it.

Country Life is a particularly creamy butter, with more flavour to it than say Lurpak, which I also think is a good butter. If you

are vegetarian like me, you will be pleased to know it is suitable for you. They are proud to declare that it is made only with fresh milk from British dairy farms, but just like John Lydon in the tv advert, don’t buy it to support British farmers - ‘it’s their career choice!’ - but because it tastes really good!
