Raising Arizona, starring Nicholas Cage, is a movie directed by the Coen brothers, who also directed such classics as O Brother Where Art Thou, Burn After Reading, and Fargo. Raising Arizona was one of their first movies.

I’m a big fan of the Coen brothers, and Raising Arizona set the bar very high.

It is a dramatic comedy about

a couple who cannot have a baby so they steal one.

Nicholas Cage plays an ex-con, whose police officer wife (they met the many times he was arrested) are stymied in their attempt to adopt a child.

When they find out that a local businessman and his wife had given birth to quintuplets, they decide to steal one.

      • some of Cages former jailbird buddies have staged an escape and become messed up in the story, along with a dangerous bounty hunter who is on the trail of the couple.

The movie has a lot of the quirky humor that the Coen brothers are known for.

It’s kind of an offbeat, strange kind of humor that some people appreciate and some

        people don’t.

If you like the other Coen Brothers movies, you’ll love this one.

Is more lighthearted in tone than such movies as Fargo, it’s more silly than serious.

But it really is enjoyable — this is a movie I would watch again and again.

I love the Coen Brothers offbeat humor, and this is a classic example.
