I don’t know why I even bothered to watch this movie, but it was an utter waste of my time. The plot which was about a monster attacking New York City is nothing new. It was a bad mix of Godzilla and King Kong with the lizard-like creature (a la Godzilla) wreaking havoc on the streets of New York (a la

King Kong). There was no explanation for the thing coming to life at all. The only thing we can say about it is that it has babies and you will get impregnated by it if you let it come close enough. Fire will kill it though.

The supposed back story of the lead characters, Rob and Beth, was just so forced. Like ...

      • they realized that a movie about a lizard monster attacking New York was too shallow for a script, they decided to do some human interest piece on some insignificant characters who died in the end professing their love for each other. Now that I look back on the movie, I don’t really know what was given more importance, the monster or
the humans because neither received any proper description or back story.

As a viewer, you literally were in for the dizzying hand-held camera ride that offered modest scary moments and a lot of “what the heck are you thinking?!” scenes. When the camera dies in the end, you are just happy that it did, because, well, there’s nothing better than ending that movie.
