The Rockaway Borough Library is located in the middle of the town of Rockaway, New Jersey. It is a very convenient location. The New Jersey transit bus stops only a block away. It is very easy to walk on the sidewalk to the Rockaway Borough Library from the bus stop, so it is convenient to those who do not have cars. For those that do have cars, the parking lot is large and spacious with plenty of room to park.

The library itself is very small. Its main flaw is that it is a small collection of books compared to other libraries in the area. However, it has a very large selection of DVDs and even rents games. In fact, it

has the biggest selection of DVDs in Morris County.

This is surprising because many of the libraries in Morris County are three or four times its size. Yet the librarians at Rockaway Borough seem to prioritize videos and DVDs. There is in an incredibly huge selection to choose from — in the hundreds. There are also CDs and books on tape, but fewer of those.

The movies can be taken out for one week. Three movies are allowed to be checked out at one time on any one card. A week is usually enough time to watch the movies. Unfortunately, the fine for each movie is a dollar a day if it is late.

This makes it very important to ...

      • return the movie on time. This small library has only one computer available to the public. Therefore, it is not a good place to go in to work unless you have your own laptop. If you do have your own laptop, however, the atmosphere is very quiet and there plenty of tables to sit down at.

The librarians are friendly and competent. There are comfortable chairs to sit in at a bathroom for the public, which is always clean and well-maintained. Another good feature that the library has its used book selection. In the basement, where you can find the children’s library, there are shells we can pick out used books.

Hardcovers are free. You can’t beat that. Paperbacks are only

        $. 10 apiece.

In contrast, paperbacks at Moorestown library or $. 25 apiece and hardcovers are several dollars. In the Denville library both paperbacks and hardcovers cost $. 50.

And the other library in Rockaway, Rockaway Township Library, offers no (or very few) used books at all. If you want books, it is better to go to other libraries in the area — such as the Rockaway Township Library for the Morris County Library. However, if you want movies this is the best place to go. If you want a nice quiet place to read or work on a laptop, the Rockaway Borough Library is also a good place to go.

I enjoy spending time in the library, though if I want a large selection of books, I always go elsewhere.
