I thought, by now, I would be reviewing the new Sherlock Holmes movie starring Robert Downey Jr. But, I haven’t seen it yet.

Instead, I’m talking about another version of Sherlock Holmes that came out recently on DVD.

This cheap ripoff, sometimes billed Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes, isn’t the worst movie ever

      made.

But, if you rent it thinking it is the one you see advertised all the time, you will be disappointed.

This movie has Holmes and Watson chasing monsters throughout London in an effort to figure out if they are real or if there is some sort of plot afoot.

      The acting is a ...

      • bit weak and there are a lot of holes in the plot (especially toward the end).

And, the special effects leave a lot to be desired.

However, I will admit, if you watch this movie objectively and not compare it to others, it isn’t as bad as you would think.

        Once you get past

some of the boring scenes and overlook the weaknesses, it’s an OK movie; as long as you didn’t buy the DVD and only rented it (or got it through Netflix like I did).

In other words, it’s not a great movie.

But, it is still a good one to watch on rainy day when there’s nothing on TV.
