  • The music behind the vocals is actually sort of circus-sounding, for lack of a better description, and adds to the very cheerful and upbeat mood, McCartney really made everything work and fit together on this track in my opinion, a good piece of work

Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da is one of the tracks from the White Album which I would define as being simply one of the most upbeat tracks throughout the entire record and one of the most cheerful sounding Beatles’ tracks which I’ve ever heard. Right from this description I would be assuming that it is a McCartney composition and it is,

or at least dominated primarily by McCartney. Although Lennon has always been and still is my favorite of the two between Lennon and McCartney, I will say that McCartney does have a great skill for writing just extremely catchy melodies and fitting them with very upbeat and cheerful sounding songs, and he manages to do it once again ...

      • on this track. However, this isn’t to say that McCartney can’t write more mature songs, I don’t mean to write him off like that, as the man has written tracks like Yesterday, For No One, and Let It Be as well. I am simply saying that Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da is very simple in songwriting and in structure and primarily
/> it’s just driven by that very catchy vocal melody and not really anything else about it. The music behind the vocals is actually sort of circus-sounding, for lack of a better description, and adds to the very cheerful and upbeat mood, McCartney really made everything work and fit together on this track in my opinion, a good piece of work.
