Columbo: The Complete First Season on DVD is a really nice product for fans of this iconic detective series to own. It’s really well done. It begins with a nice box that the disk holder slides into. It keeps everything as pristine as possible.

The negative point is that this is one of those fold over holders. It’s inconvenient because you have to flip over

two or three times if you want to get to disk one or disk five, for example. However, it’s only one disk to a holder, so that’s a plus. Some outfits put two disks, one overlapping the other, and I just hate that. Here, though, it’s just one disk, so it’s easy to pull out the desired disk.

Also, the artwork on each disk is different.

      • Not only that, but the place the disk pops into is the same as the artwork on the disk. That’s very cool.

There are a variety of Columbo quotes throughout, which get you thinking and are fun. A promotional booklet is included inside, but it’s just selling all of the other Universal DVDs issued about the same time.

There are no extras included in this DVD set,

but it is a quality product and provided with high class undertones. The first four disks have only two shows on them, and there is a ‘play all’ option, which I like and prefer to have. The final disk has just the one show, the last of the season.

I highly recommend this first season set. The shows are very good and there’s a long line of guest stars.
