  • I have a hard time with anything that smells too floral or girly for lack of a better word, and I prefer to find scents that my two teenage sons and husband wont shy away from using themselves
  • I like to buy things the whole household can use, and not just myself, because then I'd have to spend more money buying things for them as well
  • It's a big bottle for the $8, which I would otherwise consider a bit pricey, but it was worth it for the amount of shampoo you get
  • I bought two bottles of it and used it in a row, even though we usually trade out our shampoos every two weeks to keep our hair interested and so as not to get too used to the same product and have it lose its effectiveness
  • The product is expensive, so we don't buy it as regularly as we'd like, but so far, I've really enjoyed the Avalon shampoo products

I’m sucker for shampoos and body washes and the Avalon Organics Revitalizing Shampoo with peppermint won me over the minute I poppped the cap and smelled it. I have a hard time with anything that smells too floral or “girly” for lack of a better word, and I prefer to find scents that my two teenage sons and husband wont shy away from using themselves. I like to buy things the whole household can use, and not just myself, because then I’d have to spend more money buying things for them as well. Now, my kids don’t exaclty care what a shampoo can do for their hair, so long as it gets them clean, but my husband, who has short, thick and coarse hair, as opposed to my thin, long and

oily hair, DOES care what a shampoo can or can’t do for him. We often argue about whose turn it is to get the shampoo they want at the grocery store every other week, because he almost never likes what I bring home. Not because of smell, but because of effectiveness. Normally we end up with cheap $1 shampoo like suave because we can never decide between us. He likes Head and Shoulders and I like Pert for oily hair, which doesn’t do a thing for him. So, I’ve taken to buying more expensive shampoos that are supposed to be great for all hair types, and see how we fair with those. It’s pretty hit and miss. And since we change out our shampoos regularly anyway, since that’s better for your hair, we’ve tried our fair share of these kinds of products.

I’ve tried other Avalon shampoos, and they’ve all smelled fantastic, and gave an extra zing when washing your hair and this one was really no exception at all. It’s a big bottle for the $8, which I would otherwise consider a bit pricey, but it was worth it for the amount of shampoo you get. The peppermint smell is noticeable but not obnoxiously so. I can lather it thickly in my hair and not choke on the smell. I liked that it was a “revitalizing” shampoo because my hair, being oily and thin, is very limp, and my husbands hair is very coarsse and dry and damaged looking, so that’s a word that both of us were in dire need ...

of as far a hair care products go.

When you begin to rub it in, you can really feel it starting to tingle against your scalp. I’ve used peppermint face washes before with a similar affect, and it’s one of the reasons I like them so much. The peppermint makes it feel like the product is actually doing something for your hair and scalp. I have thinning hair, too, when I lost a lot of my hair a few years ago when I quickly lost a lot of weight. And I felt like, after continuous use of this shampoo, that my hair actually felt thicker. I bought two bottles of it and used it in a row, even though we usually trade out our shampoos every two weeks to keep our

hair “interested” and so as not to get too used to the same product and have it lose its effectiveness. But this shampoo continued to feel and smell great and make my hair shine (without the oil, mind you), and I really loved it. My husband actually liked it too. It didn’t dry his hair out more, and gave him some much needed shine as well. Needless to say, we were both exceedingly happy with this product, even though he hums and haws and says he’d still rather have his Head and Shoulders. I feel his hair too, and it feels much better than it otherwise would. The product is expensive, so we don’t buy it as regularly as we’d like, but so far, I’ve really enjoyed the Avalon shampoo products.
