There is a store not too far from my house named Aldi. This store carries mainly generic brands of food items that are modeled after or resemble products manufactured by big name, national or regional companies. Everything at this store is sold generally at or below the prices found in other stores that carry the recognizable and more well known products. One such item is garlic “Texas Toast” made by a company called “Mama Cozzi”. I have tried a number of different brands of Texas Toast, from the “New York Style” to the “Walmart Great Value” to the

“Kroger Value” and really, the Texas Toast made by “Mama Cozzi” is just as good as any other brand. I honestly would not be able to tell the difference if I was served four slices of Texas Toast from the four aforementioned companies. That is why I now purchase this brand of Texas Toast. It is cheaper and I still get eight slices. Better value, same taste, what is not to like?

This Texas Toast comes out of the oven looking, and tasting, crispy and flavorful. There is a fairly strong garlic aroma and taste and this Texas Toast ...

      • is a welcomed addition to most meals, especially pasta and pizza meals! The slices are not always big, although that is something that I have found to be common regardless of brand. Sure, it would be great if every slice of Texas Toast was large, but nothing can be done about that. There is usually only one or two slices like that anyway, so it is not that big of a deal. What matters the most to me is the flavor of the Texas Toast, and the garlic taste does not disappoint in the slightest. I prefer this
Texas Toast over regular biscuits because of the garlic flavor and also because the Texas Toast helps to fill me up!

I feel this product is deserving of a “nine” rating because it is flavorful, crispy and eight come in a box for $1.64. There is no reason to purchase the more expensive brands of Texas Toast, at least for me, there is not. If every slice of Texas Toast was large and the garlic flavor was a little stronger, I would have given this product a ten rating. Still, I really like it and will continue to purchase a box regularly!

    Johnson Bocephus says :

Decent taste, but my complaint is that all the slices typically come frozen together in one block and one has to separate the slices with a sharp object using uncontrolled force

One would think that the company would use a better packaging method to prevent the slices sticking together.

PURE IGNORANCE on the company’s part - probably Texans.
