From Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, the IndyCar series continued with all eyes on Will Power, who has won the first two races of the year. Charles Barkley waved the green flag to get things started, and it was a clean beginning as everyone maneuvered around Turn 1 smoothly.

Like with Formula 1 racing, I’d really like to see more passing, but this is

a road course and passing isn’t as easy as it is on an oval. The scenery is actually quite nice, but after 12 laps, it was holding steady with Power in the lead and Mike Conway just a tad behind.

A few laps later, after a non-accident caution, we did finally get to some brief excitement as Marco Andretti got by Helio Castroneves for ...

      • the lead. I don’t really think Helio chose to battle Marco that much, but it was still a thrill to see the two battle, however briefly.

There were some moments of action, when IndyCar racers fought for position. Amazingly, there were few on track incidents. A few cars spun around, bringing out brief local yellows, but there really weren’t any big collisions.

        I

had to feel for Andretti. He was in the lead most of the race, but because of pit strategy, he was in need of a yellow flag that just didn’t come. That meant he had to pit for a splash of gas. In the end, Castroneves won, with Scott Dixon second. Marco Andretti managed to cross the line in 5th place.
