The International School is a small school in a weird location, it is under a freeway down where the old bus depot was but it is a great school. Forget about the repair shops you pass on your way and concentrate only on the school and you will love what you see. Sure this school would be a lot nicer in a pastoral setting, but despite how it looks, the neighborhood is safe and it is a short walk to the newly installed street car line.

      The odd location for this

school means that it is very close to downtown and the South Waterfront neighborhood and is very convenient for a lot of parents. The international school has several different programs for students.

Their slogan is that they are educating world citizens, I don’t know about that, but they are creating students who are used to multi culture and who have been educated in a somewhat diverse classroom. Each class is made up of kids from different ethnic backgrounds.

There really are a lot of different ethnic groups represented here and all the teachers are from different countries as well, but all of the students here have one thing in common, they are mostly rich kids whose parents can afford to pay the steep tuition. For your high tuition here is what you get.

A small but very well kept and clean campus. A little play yard with a small play structure.

Small class sizes that make anyone in public school jealous. Lots of field trips and art projects.

Instruction in the language of your choice.

Your child can attend class in Spanish, Chinese or Japanese.

All students are walked safely to and from their parents cars both before and after school by school staff, the parking lot is very tiny but parents line up and the kids are walked to you. This school has great after school activities and offers an after school program for those whose parents cannot get them after school.

This is a great school, I do recommend it. The kids here are very happy, the only downside is the cost.

The teachers here are very well educated and are all very nice and sweet. We have had no complaints about any of the classes my daughter or her friends have been in.

You can begin your child’s education here starting in preschool and they can have the comfort of being in the same school for many years. This is more than a school, it really does feel like a community and it is wonderful for children to have the security of knowing all the staff and not just their own teachers well.
