  • I hated to see Penhall have to go through all of this to get back to Jump Street but I was so happy when he did

      In this episode of 21 Jump Street, we find Penhall and his partner riding high after the bust of a hit man. They are immediately transferred from Intelligence to the Major Crime Unit.

      Once they arrive, they are given a case involving a very well known sports writer who is accused of sexually molesting his little girl. Penhall cannot believe that one of his “heroes” could be capable of such a thing but he puts that to the side as he


      and Dorothy host a dinner party where he introduces Hanson to Jackie Garrett. Although the meeting does not go well, later on in the episode Hanson and Jackie get together and stay together through almost 12 episodes.

      Penhall questions the little girl while playing with her and thinks that she is saying that her father did molest her. They arrest Mr. Logan on a Friday night so that Jackie can make the bail high, thus giving them the whole weekend to try and get a confession out of him. Just as the man is about to break and “confess,” they find out the wife has been lying because she did not want her husband to get custody or be around her father.

      By the time they realize their mistake, Logan is broken. His friends are not answering his phone calls, he loses his job and everyone he knows is turning their backs on him both professionally and non-professionally. Mr. Logan tries ...

      to kill himself but Penhall stops him, saying his daughter needs him to live. Later on, Penhall rejoins 21 Jump Street, telling Fuller he feels he has done more good things there than anywhere else.

      I hated to see Penhall have to go through all of this to get back to Jump Street but I was so happy when he did. 21 Jump Street was never the same with Doug gone. The viewers moped and Hanson moped.

      This episode also shows

      how easily the system can be manipulated by a jealous or vindictive spouse. It seems that with the break out of crimes against children, we easily assume that everyone is guilty until proven innocent instead of the other way around. Sure, no one in their right mind wants to see a crime committed against another person, especially a child. Still, society has to be careful in who they are pointing their finger at so as not to ruin a life.
