  • His wife Abigail was portrayed beautifully and painfully by Laura Linney in what I think is her best performance ever
  • The problem with Peacefield as a whole is that it deals wife life winding down, and there's very little positive spin that can be put on a story that surrounds the end of things
  • As a whole, the mini-series was educational, interesting, and balanced between career and home

John Adams: Peacefield is the seventh and final installment of this HBO mini-series that dealt with the life and times of John Adams, as played by Paul Giamatti. His wife Abigail was portrayed beautifully and painfully by Laura Linney in what I think is her best

performance ever. In fact, she stole the mini-series and had no contenders finishing even close to what she brought to this revolutionary wife and mother who suffered much tragedy.

The problem with Peacefield as a whole is that it deals wife life winding down, and there’s very little positive spin that can be put on a story that surrounds the end of things. Two of the Adams children die during this episode, as does Abigail and, ultimately, John Adams himself, not to mention his arguably best friend, Thomas Jefferson.

stirring at points. It’s full of emotion, as can be expected from much of the life events that are portrayed. It’s not all that easy to watch so much torment and sadness.

I haven’t really mentioned many of the other performers in my reviews, but Sarah

Polley and Andrew Scott were among the credible actors in this production that stood out pretty much all of the way through.

As a whole, the mini-series was educational, interesting, and balanced between career and home. I liked it, but not as much as I might have with some better casting.
