  • The story’s pretty entertaining and the plot is interesting
  • The artwork isn’t the best and that is something that makes up half of the story, because it’s a graphic novel, it relies on both written dialogue and illustrations
  • Unfortunately since the illustrations aren’t that good, it brings down the story quite a bit
  • Would I recommend Batman fans read this book, yes, should you buy this

Batman: As The Crow Flies is a graphic novel by Judd Winick and illustrated by Dustin Nguyen. In the story, Gotham’s criminal underworld is thrown into chaos when gangsters start going berserk and kill a lot of people. Batman has to investigate who’s behind it and a monster appears and starts gangsters too.

As The Crow Flies is a decent graphic novel. The story’s pretty entertaining and the plot is interesting.

But it has a lot of pitfalls. The artwork isn’t the best and that is something that makes up half of the story, because it’s a graphic novel, it relies on both written dialogue and illustrations. Unfortunately since the illustrations aren’t that good, it brings down the story quite a bit.

The dialogue is pretty good, don’t get me wrong, but it’s still not the best from Judd Winick,

      • I’ve read better in some of his other graphic novels. It’s still pretty good and the story is worth reading, but if I had known the illustrations weren’t that great, I probably wouldn’t have bought it, but I did because it wasn’t available at the library.

Would I recommend Batman fans read this book, yes, should you buy this? No, it’s not that great, it does have some really neat fight scenes

but other than that, there’s not too much in it that’s particularly memorable. All the characters are written in character, but all their motivations aren’t very memorable and it’s not really worth having on your bookshelf. It’s a decent book, but you’re better off borrowing it from someone else than buying it online.

Batman: As the Crow Flies is currently out of print. You can find it used on Amazon.com or eBay.com.
