Portland nursery prides itself on being different than other nurseries. Their motto is a passion for plants, a nursery for plant people and I think they really mean it. They do a lot in the community and even sponsor Sesame Street on tv locally.

Portland nursery is my favorite retail nursery in the city of Portland. There are a handful of local nurseries here in Portland, but this one is the biggest.

Portland Nursery has two locations, both of which are over 2 miles from my house but anytime I need something specific it is worth the drive because they always have what you need. Here are some of the items they carry.

      Lot of different vegetables, fruits,

herbs, more seeds than home depot or any other local nursery, pots, gnomes, garden statues, tillers, pest control merchandise, gardening supplies like gloves. They are a very large nursery and they have just about everything I have ever wanted to buy.

In the fall the nursery does a cute thing for families. They have a harvest theme where you can go and buy pumpkins and they have fall related crafts for children, hot apple cider, popcorn and other treats and best of all they have free apple and pear tasting for children and adults of all ages.

We went there the last two years and I was amazed at the different variety they had of both apples and pears. I tried so ...

      • many samples I had to stop myself before I got sick, they really have that many to try for free.

Best of all after you taste the types they have there all of the varieties are there for purchase at a great price. The prices on apples and pears in season is the same as at the local farmer’s market, it is more than what you would spend at a typical grocery store, but they have so many different varieties that you would never be able to find at a grocery store.

One of the best things about this nursery other than their wonderful selection of items to buy is the location. You get off of highway 84, make a couple of turns and

        you are there.

It is less than 5 minutes from the freeway, nice and convenient for anyone who lives in NE Portland. They have a large parking lot and lots of street parking which is good because this is the place to go in fall on weekends for the apple tasting and in spring for plants.

I have never been there when it was not really busy but I have never had to park further than the back up parking lot. This nursery is really well set up.

They have red rider wagons for your use as well as small shopping carts and larger wagons. Some of the aisles are a little tough to pull your wagon through, but the whole place is handicap accessible and very stroller friendly.
