  • For those of you who heard Metallica play ‘The New Song’ during I believe Summer 2007 then you’ll recognize that the opening riff to The End Of The Line is a riff from one of those songs, just felt that I’d point that out
  • I’m aware that Metallica said that for Death Magnetic they let their past albums be a major influence on them and I can definitely hear an influence from Creeping Death in the vocal melody which Hetfield chooses for this song
  • Just as on Creeping Death, Hetfield will emphasize one word at the start of the phrasing before going into the rest of the lyric part, it’s a great melody in my opinion despite the similarity with Creeping Death
  • I also have to praise Metallica for the clean section after the solo during this song, it really serves as an excellent contrast to the first few minutes which are just completely aggressive, Hetfield’s vocals are amazing during this section as well

      • despite the similarity with Creeping Death. The music to The End Of The Line is great as well, although I don’t really a comparison to a past Metallica song, and the rhythm throughout the entire song strikes me as being quite heavy and pretty aggressive. I said that That Was Just Your Life didn’t really hit me on first listen; however, I remember that The End Of The Line certainly did, an excellent track off of Death Magnetic.
