I woke up with a sore throat today and, as it was getting worse, decided to stop by a pharmacy and pick up some over-the-counter cold / sore throat relief. I chose Halls Mentho-Lyptus, a pack of candy-like drops that you let dissolve in your mouth. The pack said that it cools nasal passages, soothes sore throat, and fights coughs, so I figured I got just what

      I need.

I took one of the drops right away, and it kicked in within minutes. My throat stopped hurting altogether, I could breathe easier and no longer felt any discomfort.

The taste was good, too. The active ingredient is menthol, it works as a cough suppressant and oral anesthetic.

Inactive ingredients are flavors, glucose syrup, sucrose, and water. The pack says “Advanced Vapor Action,” which means ...

      • that the stuff evaporates in your mouth and brings relief as you breathe it.

Adults and children over 5 years should take 1 drop, repeat every 2 hours if needed. A doctor should be consulted regarding whether children younger than 5 can take the drops.

There is a warning on the pack that ways that you should stop using the drops and consult a doctor if cough

persists for more than 1 week, tends to recur, or is accompanied by fever, rash, or persistent headache; also if sour throat does not improve in 7 days and if irritation, pain, or redness persists or worsens. There are 30 drops in the pack.

The pack is resealable, you tear it open along the provided strip and then close again by tightly pressing together the resealing line. The price was $0.

Is it safe just to eat the candy even if you don`t have a cold? ….. I like the taste and it keep tour mouth fresh

    Galega says :

If you take a look at ingredients, you can assume that there is no problem in taking it even if there is no cold.

However, don’t take it continuously like a chocolate or toffee.
