Disney Channel created a sensation with High School Musical in 2006. It has spawned two sequels, but I hadn’t even seen the original until last night. Of course, I’m not of current high school generation, so I’m not their target audience anyway.
That said, I chuckled at the very opening bit, which had the two lead characters of Troy and Gabriella meeting for the first time at a
Karoake contest and singing together. The way that scene was played reminded me of the very old Woody Woodbury Time or even Elvis Presley’s movie Speedway. It’s the concept of the spotlight hitting on you and then you have to perform. I was definitely amused by that theme being used here.
