It was a Woman of the Year (and there weren’t many of those during the years of the roast) for The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast, and that woman was Joan Collins. For one of the few times in the history of the roasts, the dais was predominantly female, and they weren’t all the usual names.

While there were a few usuals, like Phyllis Diller, many participants were strangers to the celebrity roasts.

Taped in Las Vegas, the first to roast Joan was Gavin McLeod, one of the handful of men roasting Joan that night.

Then it was on to the women, like Bea Arthur, who was pretty funny in a prolonged segment.

      • Anne Baxter was there, discussing how both like to play more wicked ladies. Zsa Zsa Gabor was part of the festivities, too.

Of her Dynasty co-stars, it was John Forsythe who was in attendance. Aaron Spelling was on the dais as well.

I wasn’t that thrilled with this episode of the hour long roast.

There were a lot of good digs at Joan and some genuine laughs, but I wasn’t in hysterics like I am during some of these roasts. It would have been nice if others from Dynasty had been there, but that wasn’t the case. It could have been better, but what was there was okay.
