In Whoopi: The Last Dance, Whoopi Goldberg’s Mavis Rae character acts super nice and sweet all of a sudden and that alarms her brother and hired help. She reveals her attitude is because her friend, Tony, is in town. She’s getting all gussied up as a result.

Tony, a choreographer, is played by the wonderful

Patrick Swayze, who was very close to Goldberg. He used to say if he weren’t married to Lisa Niemi, he’d be married to Whoopi. This was a much anticipated show when it aired on February 24, 2004.

This is the first show in the last few episodes of Whoopi where I actually laughed out loud.

      • Admittedly, I’m a Swayze fan to am prone to enjoying anything he’s in. There were just some wonderful lines exchanged between these two stars, especially since Tony had found religion, something Mavis was incredulous about.

Naturally, there was dancing on this show. The live audience roared when they realized Swayze was about to dance.

It was a bit of Dirty Dancing on Whoopi and was a lot of fun. I didn’t much care for Tony’s wardrobe, but what he wore was in keeping with his character. It was just really grating and out there.

The Last Dance was a marvelous half hour of entertainment, and it’s one I’ll never forget.
