I have the standard Better Homes and Gardens red and white checked cookbook - the one that seems like everyone I know owns…but because I am busy I have been using my slowcooker a lot more. I received the Better homes and Gardens Slow Cooker Recipes for 2, 4 or More cookbook for a Christmas gift a couple of years ago and to be quite honest hadn’t even done anything more than put

but the thing that I forgot is that better Homes and Gardens may not put out the most visually appealing recipe books - not a lot of photos, etc - but the recipes are great. The first thing I tried out of it was a chicken rice soup which came out tasty and satisfying. The recipes are also very easy to make and ...

      • only occasionally use prepared foods like cans of mushroom soup as ingredients. Everything else is totally from scratch.

The main advantage is that the recipes are quite simple and just require a little bit of cutting and some stirring. A few of the recipes have more steps but most of them have 4 or less steps. And to be honest, I just chopped up the ingredients and stuck them all into the pot

without worrying about the order or about mixing things together in a separate bowl and everything came out good. In some of the recipes you do need to mix thing separately because they are just things you brush over the top of the meat, that sort of thing. But that’s probably the most complicated thing you’d have to do.

Basically it’s a great cookbook for when you’re too busy but still want nice homecooked meals.
