I’ve read a few novels by Nicholas Sparks, and while I find them to be a bit predictable - you always know how the book is going to end - and they’re often sad endings, it’s still always an enjoyable read. The characters, setting, and story always mesh well, and Dear John (which has also

been made into a movie) is no exception. Actually it’s quite a bit like Nicholas Sparks’ other books.

I really liked the way the story was set up. Everything moved along at a nice pace and you really felt connected to the characters and interested in the events. I really wanted the story to end happily.

      • I thought the perspective was handled really well and you knew just enough of what was going on - not too much detail, but not too little either. I liked how the book was narrated from John’s point of view. And while sometimes there was a lot of his regular life, it did make the

        book feel more fulfilling.

Nicholas Sparks writes so well and so engagingly that you never feel like his books are very long, although they are actually quite short in reality as well, so in the end, it works out to being a quick read.

This book is great for curling up with and reading on a quiet afternoon.
