  • The first shows him a time when he was more innocent and enjoyed Christmas, the second shows him several different celebrations of the present Christmas while the last one shows Scrooge his own neglected grave and people plundering his house
  • The description of what for us is old-fashioned Christmas celebrations are great, and the story has a good pacing and interesting minor characters
  • If you’ve only seen the films etc, I recommend reading it

A Christmas Carol is one of Dickens most famous works. It has been made into films, TV series, shows and cartoons.

It tells the story of an old business man called Scrooge.

His business partner has been dead for seven years, so Scrooge runs his own business as he pleases.

      Just before Christmas Scrooge

are visited by three ghosts, the ghosts of Christmas past, present and yet to come.

The three ghosts turn Scrooge from a greedy old miser to a social and charitable old man.

I especially like Dickens description of poor families, he shows empathy without getting too cheesy.

Scrooge’s transformation might seem a bit abrupt, but in the setting of a Christmas story it fits.

        The description of what

for us is old-fashioned Christmas celebrations are great, and the story has a good pacing and interesting minor characters.

If you’ve only seen the films etc, I recommend reading it.

Unlike many of Dickens books it’s not very long, and it’s a perfect book if you want to give the Christmas spirit a boost.

Featuring a simple fictional story embedded in virtuous values that shine, highlighting the core values and true meaning of Christmas, A Christmas Carol kept the top spot in the bestseller list. Mostly, it became the inspiration for many other Christmas writings later. Over the past 150 years, the work has touched millions of readers’ hearts and is still considered one of the most popular Christmas stories of all time.
