The wave of Disney stars are never very successful at crossing over to the music industry. They always try to mold themselves into triple threats when the main reason they got booked to begin with was just for acting. It has happened with Hilary Duff, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Demi Lovato. That’s just a few of the names of the Disney starts who have moved from the acting world to the music industry.

Demi Lovato is so successful because she has achieved the edgy vibe that no real Disney stars ever do without looking as if they are trying way too hard to be something they are not. Most Disney stars play the cute and innocent role until they get past their teenage years and

realize that most people won’t buy that in the music industry. Demi Lovato has been a trendsetter from the start. Her songs are catchy but not vapid and she is great live. Although some complain that she just sounds like she is screaming in most of her songs, she really does have a voice. She just likes to play around with more sensitive subject matter in a way that most young Disney stars have no clue how to do.

Her video for “Remember December” really showcases that. The lyrics are about an old love that has since faded but still freshly hurts. For such a young star, she really understands how to frame certain subjects. She seems very mature and knowledgeable. The music video starts ...

      • out with a car driving fast through the city, lights rushing past. Demi Lovato and two girlfriends are in the back of a car and she is singing toward the camera. The music video features a lot of her walking around with these friends and singing. The best part of the music video by far is the part where she is just rocking out with her band to the music. She also does a bunch of singing while solitary in a silver hoodie. I like that she switches up between a lot of different scenes so that the viewer does not get bored with the video. The outfits and the styling of hair and makeup are very cohesive. There are a lot of metallics and
dark colors. It really works for the subject of this music video. You can see how much fun she is having while she is rocking out with her band even though she is singing really serious lyrics. This is a true performer who is just starting to refine her craft and channel her talent. I am excited to see what direction Demi Lovato takes her music in the future. I am glad that she has set herself apart from the other Disney stars by being so much more edgy and true to her own personality. The fact that she does not conform to the Disney standard sends a wonderful message to all of her fans. I hope she is as inspiring to others as she is to me.
