I bought this book a few months ago and read it immediately because I heard so many god things about it. First of all, this book is not the usual Photoshop book which deals with the usual themes such as sharpening an image, cropping or opening up Photoshop. This book delves into the artistic side of Photoshop because it teaches - as you guessed it - down and dirty tips which a lot of Photoshop users - advanced level learners included - do not know.

These artistic techniques are the type of things which produce the same effects you’ll see on ads, posters, brochures, movies, websites and other types of media. When

you open the book, the first thing you will notice is its colorful pages and nice fonts - which are not actually common among the many Photoshop books I own.

While the lessons are arranged by chapters, you don’t have to read them in order to understand them all, because the next chapters have little do with the preceding chapters. In fact, you can jump in anywhere and still understand it.

What I also like about this book is that the pictures used as examples can be downloaded from the book’s website, so you can follow as the author shows how this and that trick is done. When you read the first ...

      • few lessons of the book, you will notice that the author clearly explains every little task in detail, such as opening a file and creating a new layer.

But as you follow the next lessons, the same tasks are not spelled out elaborately anymore because he assumes that these things are already learned. This shows that this book is written for everybody, regardless of skill level.

In fact, the tricks here are easy to understand, even though the resulting art works are pretty amazing and look like they were done by the pros. Some of the tricks included are Creating A Photo Collage, Creating A Tilt-Shift Toy Model Look, High-Tech Sports Look

Product Set Up and Adding Texture And Aging To A Photo.

I was amazed by the number of effects included here and I also like the art works used. I think that even if you hate reading books, you will not be bored reading this book because the steps to achieving the effects you usually see on various media like websites and brochures are laid out in a detailed, easy to understand manner that, even if you are a beginner with a few Photoshop experience, you can still follow along.

All in all, I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn a few tricks which you want to achieve with Photoshop.
