  • A great episode, but unfortunately it only serves as a pleasant surprise in a so-so sixth season

After a lengthy two year hiatus, legendary comedian Larry David returns to his hit HBO comedy show Curb Your Enthusiasm with a sixth season. It came as a surprise that the show returned at all, not just for the fact of a lengthy weight.

The fifth season, which bowed out with a special length episode entitled “The End” was a series finale as good as any, but fans

of Larry, Cheryl, Jeff and the countless predicaments Mr.

David finds himself in will be glad for the return all the same.

In this episode “Meet the Blacks”, its business as usual for Larry and co.

He’s still getting into awkward situations, making a fool of himself and making life miserable for everybody around him.

The ever well meaning Cheryl sets the scene for this episode (and a ...

      • good chunk of this season), revealing she (and Larry) will be taking in the Blacks, a displaced family of refuges whose home as been destroyed a Katrina like hurricane.

Soon, Larry and Cheryl are meeting the African-American family at the airport and Larry can’t quite get over their surname being “Black”.

After numerous gags about it, pointing out it’d be like him being called “Larry Jew”, the growing

tension between both families is evident.

This is a pretty good episode, one that sets up new players and throws some much needed new faces into the Larry David household.

The gags aren’t as strong as usual, but the character interactions are all enjoyable.

A great episode, but unfortunately it only serves as a pleasant surprise in a so-so sixth season.

Not the best, but enjoyable all the same.
