Ponch has just finished restoring that burnt out car that he bought earlier in the season in CHiPs: Down Time. He’s so thrilled with it, but naturally, something is bound to happen, and it does. First, the vehicle promptly gets stolen by a trio of females, including Kim who has just moved into the same apartment complex by the marina that

Ponch lives in. Second … well, that’s the big fun of the end, and you’ll just have to watch, but I knew it was coming long before it happened.

Meanwhile, Jon has lost his wallet, and it’s somewhat humorous to watch him fret about that during the hour and then go about getting new credit cards and the like. There’s a good ...

      • reveal at the end to this story, too.

On top of these two plots, the CHP headquarters is in disarray, all because they’ve been ordered to install a women’s locker room. This is fun simply because everyone is flustered with boxes everywhere.

Of note in CHiPs: Down Time is that Kim is played by Randi Oakes, who would become a regular in season 3.

Honestly, she was better as this conniving character than in her regular role. That’s because there was more confidence in how she went about playing this very accomplished female character.

There’s a good appearance by Burr DeBenning in this episode, too.

I like this show because the three storylines aren’t intended really to be comedies, but they are. They are lighthearted fun, and it’s entertaining.
