CHiPs: Rustling from season one actually had what I would call the first serious storyline, one that was emotional on a deep level. Most of the time, things are light or perhaps angry, and there’s been emotion, but not quite like this.

G.W. Bailey plays a drunk driver who causes an accident. A

very grown up Pam Ferdin plays Susie, who is severely injured and may have a spinal injury. The scene has Jon comforting her as they wait for the paramedics. It’s touching, endearing, and tear-invoking.

Ferdin was a child actress who appeared on just about every show under the son. She was everywhere.

      • She didn’t just have the look, but she had a ton of talent. She’s only done a few things as an adult. I’ve never forgotten her, though. Her part here was short, but she gave Susie dimension and warmth. In just a couple of minutes, we cared.

        There were some notable

guest stars in Rustling. Carl Ballantine was a magician while Alice Ghostley worked at the station. Then there was L.Q. Jones as one of the rustlers. The bad part here is that there was some stunt work involved and you could easily tell it wasn’t LQ in a few places.

        Good show overall.
