When Pirates of the Caribbean first opened, Johnny Depp was only 10 years old and the movie by the same name was not even a thought. The ride is a dark boat ride through many scenes that simply put, were not the normal PG scenes you thought Disney would give you. However, today’s version has had scenes from the movie incorporated and many of the offensive scenes toned down.

This ride has been one of my favorites since the first time I rode it when I was 5. This

ride has a little something for everyone. For the movie fans the theme of the ride now is Barbossa chasing after Jack Sparrow. The ride also has one drop although it is short, it is in the dark and can’t be seen. As for the rest of the ride you float through various scenes including pirates in jail, pirates bidding on women to take home, and much much drinking. It is all accompanied by the song “Yo Ho, Yo Ho a pirates Life for Me”.

      • above, Pirates is one of my favorite rides. It is simply a lot of fun. Besides the one short drop you basically float around out of the hot Florida sun. The visuals of the ride are also outstanding. While some of the Audio-Animatronics have been on the ride forever, the true treasure of this ride is the Audio-Animatronic of Jack Sparrow at the end of the ride. Kids will legitimately think that Johnny Depp has been kidnapped and forced to be in this ride.
It is one of the most lifelike Animatronics Disney has ever produced. You will not get wet on this ride and it doesn’t offer many thrills, but that is made up in the pure fun that this ride brings.

If you are a parent beware of Pirates of the Caribbean as it is truthfully pitch dark at times and has many themes that are still not PG. For everyone else though Pirates should be a ride that is at least rode at least once in your trip to Disney World.
