Histories Mysteries: Cliff Mummies of the Andes is an episode of the popular series on the History Channel that presents the stories of little-known places and people in history. This show was about the way that ancient native peoples of the South American mountain chain buried their dead.

Tribes that lived many centuries ago in the Andes Mountains would excavate caves where they would lay their mummified dead to

      rest with treasures.

This show follows three explorers from America as they climb the mountains in search of an intact burial site.

The show discusses how most of the sites have been ransacked by looters in the past fifty years.

I felt the frustration of the climbers as they entered one historic site after another only to find empty tombs or scattered bones.

      They got there too late.

      ...

      • I could share their frustration but I remember wondering if they would ever find an intact tomb and if their trip would turn out to be in vain.

I also learned a bit about the culture of people in that part of the world.

I learned a bit about the history of the native peoples of the past that lived in that area.

        Unfortunately, little is

        know about them.

I found the show entertaining, but in my opinion they could have cut out some of the material they showed.

They showed a great deal of unsuccessful hunting and searching, with men climbing to the tops of cliffs only to be come down empty handed.

It seemed that some of this material could have been edited out and it would have made the documentary drag a lot less.
