The Incredibles.
This is the first Super Heroes’ film I have ever seen, that has a focus on a family.
This is very positive, as our children can see and extract from the film, the idea of na united family, solving their problems always joined.
The story runs in Metroville, a place that people think that they’ve had enough heroes. There were so many lawsuits from property owners, suicidal citizens who didn’t want to be saved and people injured during rescues.
In that scenario, the government called the superheroes to live like simple mortals, so into their “retirement”. Mr. Incredible turned to live as Bob Parr, a simple man that works trapped in a corporate cubicle, working as an insurance claims adjuster.In his common and suburban existence there is a bright people, his superhero wife, the rubber-limbed Elastigirl, that lives as a common woman, called Helen. This couple lived for 15 years, suppressing their powers and doing the best they can to be “ordinary people”. Helen is a very dedicated woman, using her powers on raising three children: the lightning-fast little boy (Dash), a brooding teenage daughter with the ability to turn invisible and to create force fields (Violet) and a new baby (Jack Jack), that in hasn’t shown any special powes yet.
Once a day, Bob gets a mysterious invitation to use his powers in a remote island to battle a strange crazy machine, and he accepts without his family’s knowledge. The invitation has come from Syndrome’s assistant, called Mirage.
Following, he attends to another mission in the same island, and meet again one man that now is Syndrome, and in the past was “the biggest Mr. Incredible’s fan”.
Meanwhile, Helen realized that Bob was not just attending an insurance conference, as he has told her. She and the kids try to follow Bob’s tracking signal helping him in a life-and-death battle to save Earth from evil one more time. In this part of the film they act as a true team, a true family, and there are so many lessons from their actions to our kids. Values like confidence, love, respect, friendship arises very clearly.It is clear in this part of the film that the biggest power of Mr. Incredible is to love his wife and his kids.
Helen demonstrates for the whole film her ability to educate their childrens correctly, and to enable them to be happy and whealthy.
All the family experience the riksks of a dangerous mission, as missiles destroy the jet Elastigirl, but the Elastigirl saves Violet and Dash with a “parachute”, while Mr. Incredible, believing his family is dead, is tortured with electrical discharges by Syndrome, the evil “hero”.
Following, a crazy “octopus like” machine tries to crush Mom, Dad and both kids. Dash uses his speedy powers, and Violet uses her invisibility and force fields to fight the “octopus like” robot. Crazy and almost loosing the batlhe, Syndrome kidnaps Jack Jack, the family’s baby.
Syndrome release the baby from a great height, and at this time, he turns into a clawing beast, as the Elastigirl catches him and saves his life.
Syndrome shows the news, telling that he has killed many superheroes to advance his research on superpowers, and new “superguns”.
Mirage, a beaultiful and slim girl is faced to Elatigirl, that for a moment thinks that she was she’s been seducing Mr. Incredible.
At he epilogue, the whole family of the Incredibles won Syndrome, helped by Mr Incredible’s ice-powered friend “Frozone”, and as so, the superheroes can came back, and save humanity once again.
Great film for kids and adults, and an Excellent work from PIXAR Studios!
