Death Walker by Aimee & David ThurloItem: Death Walker by Aimee & David Thurlo
Death Walker is the second book in the Ella Clah series that takes place in NW New Mexico on the Navaho Reservation. I started reading this series several months ago and have read many of the books. I really enjoy the SW landscape and the bits of Navaho Culture I find in the Thurlos’ books. In this book, I was able to fill in some of the back story that I had missed because I couldn’t find this book in the library earlier. This book takes place just after Ella has been hired away from the FBI and made into a special investigator for the Navaho tribe. When elders of the tribe, particularly those with expertise in the traditions of the Navaho, start being murdered, Ella finds herself for a serial killer while at the same time, having to deal with the skinwalkers that appeared in the previous book, Blackening Song. Ella finds herself having to deal, not only with the murders and the threats of more deaths, but she finds the prejudice against her family is becoming greater and this inhibits her investigation. This is a fun read, as are the others I’ve read in the series. If you like Tony Hillerman’s novels, give these a try. Rating: 8
