Ortho Evra Birth Control PatchItem: Ortho Evra Birth Control Patch
I used the Ortho Evra Birth Control Patch for approximately one year. I decided to transition from Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo birth control bill simply because I (as many other women) became tired of the “take a pill everyday at the same time” routine. Originally, I was going to transition off of birth control altogether and just have my partner use condoms; however, without birth control, I have severe menstrual cramps so, I decided to stay with birth control but look for another form instead of oral contraceptives. My gynecologist recommended that I try “the patch” and wrote me a prescription for a year for Ortho Evra. I must say, it was a pleasant experience. Not having to worry about if you missed a day really does take away that small level of stress that comes with the pill. The only two side effects that a experienced was a bit of breast enlargement and a slight weight gain (however, I’m not sure if thats from birth control or just slight weight fluctuation that I’ve experienced in the past). I’m no longer using the patch, as I’ve decided (along with my doctor) to transition to NuvaRing. The only negatives I’ve have concerning the patch has been: - The appearance of it. I’ve never worn it on my upper arm because I’ve never wanted to get questions about what it is. - On a few occasions, it has come off for almost off. If you’re looking for a little bit more freedom concerning birth control, I’d definitely recommend the patch. Rating: 8
