One day, I was so fancied by a cute persian cat and thought it was so adorable that I caressed its fluffy fur. Minutes passed and my nose started feeling fuzzy. I was sneezing uncontrollably - a clear sign of allergic rhinitis, accompanied by nasal dripping and itching. Seriously, I was skeptical that Alnix will work for my allergy because the product sample I received from my friend was a petty formula intended for children. Anyway, I took 2 teaspoonful of the medication just to check if it works.

The worst part about having an allergy is your nose getting irritably itchy. I use muconase which is a saline nasal spray but I have to reapply it constantly. With Alnix, I find that the dripping and irritation stops throughout the rest of the day. This kiddie formula actually worked to treat my allergy. It suppresses the sneezing and itching, as well as other symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis and allergies in general. Although, from my experience, the medicine will take longer than 2 hours to feel the relieving effects.

As an adult, I actually enjoy the taste of this syrup. It doesn’t taste anything like medicine and has a sweet grapefruit flavor but without leaving a bitter after-taste. It’s chemical name is Cetirizine Dihydrochloride.

I take this antihistamine at any time of the day and so far it hasn’t given me any digestion problems. However, one very discernible side-effect of Alnix is that it causes sedation or drowsiness. Sometimes I feel like sleeping. My friend even confessed that she takes two bottles of Alnix to make her go to sleep. Well, I surely wouldn’t do that considering large amounts can be bad for your liver. But my friend reassured me that it’s safe to use and even safer for adults since children’s medicines have regulated amounts, therefore they can cause less side-effects.

This sweet tasting fruit-flavored syrup can compare to heavy adult medications because it works just as much but perhaps a lot safer. I will rate this 9 out of 10 minus the side-effect.
