Chad Ochocinco usually doesn’t offer a lot of insight into anything. But, he had a point about number one NFL receivers; they are the go-to guy because they have a chemistry with the quarterback.
That’s the case with surprise star Miles Austin; a receiver I never even heard of this year until he became the top receiver for the Cowboys because he has some sort of chemistry with Tony Romo.
I like this story because he’s not a guy who was a first round draft pick or a big name free agent acquisition. Instead, he’s a guy who is in the right place at the right time and is making the most of it. He probably isn’t even the most talented receiver on the roster, he just knows how to get open when his quarterback needs him to be and make a play when he needs to.
Ironically, the Cowboys, who have made quite a few questionable moves, stumbled on their starting receiver solely by accident; very similar to how they found their starting quarterback (an undrafted free agent). Maybe they should look at Miles Austin and realize the potential of giving the unknown guys a shot more often because that’s where they seem to have more success rather than signing or trading for the next big thing.
