Heidelberg, GermanyItem: Heidelberg, Germany
I lived in Heidelberg for a total of 4 years and it is one of the most beautiful German cities I have been to. This town is famous for it’s Heidelberg Castle; which is open to the public for tours and such. all you have to do is either drive up there yourself or take a “cart-train” The castle itself is quite nice, especially the view from the out door balcony. I recommend not taking children near the giant Wine/Beer Keg though; There’s lots of inappropriate graffiti on it. I don’t know how the graffiti got on there but it doesn’t look too recent. There are a few gift and food shops here and there along the mountain near the castle, so bring some extra euros for all the great german food :) Downtown Heidelberg is an awesome shopping center. I’ve gone down there a million times, mostly with my family but I’ve spent some birthday dinners down there too. I went to Pizza Hut for my 14th birthday. Which I would have to mention that German/European pizza is much better than American. Anyways; There’s a wide range of shops in the downtown area that are all interesting to look through. MY favorites were the dollar stores [cute nifty things inside] and a tiny little head shop where alot of band merchandise is sold. The river has boat tours that are fun to go on. I’ve been on about 4 boat tours down there so far. Every time was unique and very exciting. It’s also quite relaxing when you’re not near children. So, I’d have to say Heidelberg is pretty much for everyone. Kids, parents, the elderly, everyone can have a good time :) Rating: 10
