San Francisco 49ers

At the beginning of the year, I thought the 49ers would win the NFC West division. Half way through, it doesn’t look like that will happen. But, they are still improved over what they have been from the past couple years.
The move to Alex Smith at quarterback was a fantastic decision. Usually, a first overall pick doesn’t get a second chance with his team if he is a bust to start. But, in this situation, he might be improved because he finally is playing in a system that gives him run support and doesn’t make him carry the entire team; something he isn’t equipped to do.
The defense has been impressive under Mike Singletary, especially in the redzone, allowing the 49ers to be competitive without having to score a lot of points. And, when he needs to make that big play, they do have Michael Crabtree, who seems to be doing a surprisingly good job considering he is a rookie and missed several weeks because of a contract hold out.
I don’t think they are good enough to beat the top teams in the league and they need a game plan for when they are playing from behind but I think this franchise will have a shot at the playoffs later in the season.

Michael walter was a Inside Linebacker for the 49ers in 1988. Michael is an athletic, talented performer who worked well in the 49ers' multiple defenses. The club's leading tackler in 1987, he was credited with 66 tackles and 28 assists during the campaign. Michael's statistics also included 2 passes ...

Ted Ginn
I was just reading about a trade that sent Miami Dolphins’ receiver Tedd Ginn to the San Francisco 49ers for a 5th round draft pick. I know this is a move that might not seem like a huge deal to a lot of fans. But, I think this was a ...

San Francisco 49ers Preseason
A few years ago, the San Francisco 49ers fired their head coach Steve Mariucci after he went 1-1 in the playoffs. They decided, at that time, he would never get them to the Super Bowl and, because of that, it was time to make a change in the right ...

Jarrett Bush
I have to say I am concerned about the Green Bay Packers defense. Not so much the starting defense, which is as solid as ever, but the depth on the defense should a starter get hurt. My biggest concern, once again, has to be the secondary. And, one of the ...

Packers Dope Sheet
Now that football season (well, pre-season) is starting again, I am once again making my weekly visit to Packers.com in order to read their weekly dope sheet. When it comes to lead up to games, the Packers Dope Sheet is probably the best place to gain a full understanding about ...

Preseason Bears versus 49ers
From what I saw of the Bears during their first pre-season game, I think you're going to see another season where their defense will win them the division but their offense will keep them from going far in the playoffs. Starter Rex Grossman and the first team offense did absolutely ...

JT O’Sullivan
I remember JT O'Sullivan when he came to the Green Bay Packers a few years ago. I never heard much about the quarterback before then and really didn't think that much about him other than the fact he was part of a trade for cornerback Mike McKenzie. While with the ...

Isaac Bruce
I see the San Francisco 49ers are doing the right thing and are planning on activating Isaac Bruce for their season finale against his former St. Louis Rams team. Bruce is the perfect example of a star player who stuck around a bit too long in the league. At one ...

Alex Smith
A few years ago, the San Francisco 49ers had an opportunity to choose Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers with the first overall pick in the draft. They went with Alex Smith instead. Rodgers is now entering his second season as the Packers starter after putting up impressive numbers ...

Mike Martz
Now that he's been fired by the Detroit Lions, former head coach and Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz should be a hot commodity for teams looking to boost their offenses. Even though Martz had some success as a head coach, I do believe his strength is as an offensive coordinator. ...
