I bought the HTC G1 phone that is marketed only to T-Mobile customers two months ago. It has been an excellent upgrade from your regular phone. Some of my family and friends have iPhones, and this seemed like a better option for me being that it was cheaper, had cheaper service, had an actual keyboard, and was open source, which allows a larger variety of more user-friendly apps.
The bad things with this phone are if you have too many apps that take up a fair amount of memory, it gets slower. For the most part this isn’t a problem, especially if you have a scrap of patients for your electronics. Also some apps are more prone to slowing the G1 down, but those almost always are made prominent by low ratings in the App Market. Good things about this phone include having a real keyboard, which makes texting without looking an option, but a touch screen keyboard is still a very easily accessed option. All apps that I have seen and wanted have been free and downloaded problem-free with one click. Very user-friendly set up, many online resources if you have any questions or problems. All in all, this phone is amazing if you are like me and expect a fair amount from your phone, but for people with no patients for the occasional lagging program, you may want to reconsider. Worth the rare slowness if you ask me. Rating: 9
