Boracay Regency Beach Resort and Convention CenterItem: Boracay Regency Beach Resort and Convention Center
Boracay has become a hit to tourists and locals alike because of its long stretch of fine, white sand and clear waters. We’ve been wanting to go there, but never did because the hotels are quite expensive during peak season until last week when my aunt paid for the whole trip as part of my grandmother’s 80th birthday celebration.
The resort is divided into three wings. The main hotel has adult and kiddie pools. The adult pool has a whirlpool bath in the middle and a bar on the side. The bar stools are submerged in the water, which is really cool. You get to enjoy your cocktails while lower half of your body is underwater. What’s also cool is that each wing has its own adult and kiddie pools so no pool area ever gets crowded. The package we got was Php 5318 (about $116 US) per person for 3 days/2 nights stay in a family room inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner, and land and sea transfers. Not bad at all. When we got to the airport from Manila, a shuttle was waiting to take us to the port where a hotel staff was waiting to help us carry our luggage from the shuttle to the boat that will then take us to the island. When we got to the island, another shuttle was waiting to take us to the hotel. It’s a bit of a hassle to do so many transfers, but only because the nearest airport was closed so we flew in from Manila to Kalibo airport, which is about an hour-and-a-half to two hours away to the port. Anyway, a staff was always present to help carry our luggage and we didn’t have to wait for either shuttles or boat to arrive. They were very prompt. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. They are always happy to take our pictures or find a lost earring under the bed or get us extra towel and toilet paper. The buffet spread has a variety of salads, breads, pastas and noodles, meats, desserts and fruits. There’s refillable coffee, hot cocoa and juice during breakfast. They make good desserts, but everything else was just okay. The family room sleeps five people. The main room has one king size bed and one single bed, and the adjacent room has two single beds. Each room has its own TV and phone. Only one bathroom though. Bottled water, tea and coffee were replenished daily, as well as toiletries. Our room is on the ground floor and has direct access to the pool. We really got a lot of bang for our buck and enjoyed every minute of our stay there. We even extended for another day (for an additional fee of about Php 1200)! We’re hoping to come back again next year. Rating: 8
