I found the perfect gift for my husband, an avid golfer, and he assures me that it is not only useful, but it has become integral to his golf game. I never go wrong with gifts that have something to do with golf, but I didn’t think he needed anything; he had new clubs, bags, a cart, shoes, clothes, and any accessory or piece of equipment that a golfer could ever use or want. The one thing that he didn’t have was an instrument that many golfers use now, called a rangefinder, which is used to measure the distance to the hole, so that the golfer can then choose which club to use for that particular hole. His golf buddies had all begun to use one, and although at first he thought this was paramount to cheating, he slowly came around to find this instrument useful, and often borrowed his friends’ device. I decided to look for one for his birthday.

I went to my usual golf store, Golf Town, and looked at several models and brands of rangefinder. By far the best quality item, according to the salesperson, (and the price), was the Bushnell Laser Rangefinder. At $149, it was the most expensive but Bushnell is a well-known and high quality brand, and the salesperson showed me some of the features. First of all, he said that this rangefinder is legal for tournament play. Secondly, it used laser technology to measure the distances, so as far as technology goes, it is the very latest in high-tech instruments. This device is also lightweight, so carrying it around does not add any weight to your bag, and it is also user-friendly. I was sold. I bought it, wrapped it up, and gave it to my husband.

Judging by his reaction when he opened his gift, my husband was overjoyed to get this rangefinder, and had already either heard about it or tried it out at some point. He played around with it for a minute and then declared that he had it figured out; I assume then, that it is extremely simple to use. He put it in his golf bag, and he tells me that he is playing better because he knows which club to use on every hole and for every shot. He says that it helps his game immensely, is easy to use, is accurate, and creates envy amongst his golf buddies.

The Bushnell Laser Rangefinder is a must-have for all avid golfers; it will help their game a great deal, and I highly recommend it for the golfers in your life.
