The Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino is by far the nicest place to stay in Old Downtown Las Vegas. The Golden Nugget is located on Freemont Street and is a part of the Freemont Street Experience. You can frequently find rooms for as low as $49/night. The rooms are clean, decent sized and modern. The hotel itself has 3 restaurants and an excellent Buffet. This hotel is owned by the Restaurant Group Landry’s so the food is excellent and affordable. The pool here is by far the nicest you can find in Downtown Las Vegas. Its called the Reef and it has a huge Shark Tank in the middle of the pool which has a water slide which goes through the tank. It makes for great thrills and is an awesome sight while bathing in the Desert Sun. The table minimums are high when compared to other downtown casinos but are about on par with the casinos on the strip. The dealers, bartenders and cocktail waitresses provide top notch service and give you attention that only the rich will find on the strip. If you want to go to Vegas on a budget yet stay at a really nice hotel and experience downtown Las Vegas, this is the place for you. Rating: 8
