Toyota Camry LEItem: 2007 Toyota Camry LE
The 2007 Toyota Camry LE was the first year of the 6th Generation redesign and was released with a significantly different appearance than its predecessors. The lines sleeker, sharper, and more defined both inside and out, but as I soon found, although the appearance was what I consider to be well-improved, the 2007 Toyota Camry LE is lacking in several aspects. Maybe I should have purchased a V6, but the engine in the 2007 Toyota Camry LE just doesn’t seem to stack up to the expectations I had for a 4-cylinder based on having driven a previous generation 4-cylinder Camry. It seems sluggish, and the auto-shifting feature that clicks in upon braking provides an often bumpy and clunky stop. This was designed as a safety feature, but really is a pain.
The interior is also lacking. The design is enticing, but the materials seem cheap, and the car interior just gives an overall impression of not being very well put together. The dash and center console are designed well, but the fabric used on the seats seems extremely thin in comparison to the previous Camry models. The door panels seem cheaper, with a similarly thin fabric liner inside. But beyond the superficial negatives, and clunky braking, this new 2007 Toyota Camry LE does offer some improvements over previous models. The tire pressure gauge, which is mandatory on all newer vehicles, is rather convenient, and the available features such as Bluetooth and an MP3 player as well as Auxiliary input are welcomed additions. The 2007 Toyota Camry LE has also proven to be quite reliable, and has not presented any problems thus far. In my opinion, this is a welcomed staple of almost all Toyota vehicles. Were I to return to the date of my purchase, I probably would have opted for a V6 engine, but other than that, I am pleased with the performance from my 2007 Toyota Camry. Rating: 7
