Diphenhydramine HCI(Hydrocloride), is an antihistamine used for allergy relief. It is marketed under many different brand names. The version that I am reviewing is the Target brand. The cost of the medication was pretty reasonable for a bottle of 100. The pills themselves are a small mini-caplet size are are very easy to swallow. They are coated. They are also pink! I’m not sure why they would need to add the dye to this medication but I suppose it makes for a unique pill. they are candy pink, the same color as the outside of the bottle.

I use these mainly for hay fever and sinus headaches. I get the itchy watery eyes, the sneezing during day and then sinus congestion at night. These pills did a pretty good job of relieving my symptoms. My one complaint is that they make you VERY drowsy. You won’t want to do anything but curl up for a long nap after taking the recommended dosage. Great sleeping pills! They are not very potent otherwise and your allergy symptoms will return after a short while. I have not tried taking more than the recommended dose but that may be more effective if you do.

I can’t recall having any side effects with this medication. the only thing is the drowsiness which the label does warn about. The thing I like the most about these are the size. So small and easy. I wish that more medications cold come in this tiny miniature size. Compared to some of the other brands of allergy relief this generic version can hold its own. Its not too expensive and it will get the job done, its just not very long lasting. I would recommend these if you are in a financial pinch and need some quick relief.
