Commit Stop Smoking Lozenges, 2mgItem: Commit Stop Smoking Lozenges, 2mg
I have been a smoker since I was twelve years old. Though I’m not the heaviest smoker out there, at a pack every two or three days, its certainly enough to discourage my kids and husband from sitting too close to me after I’ve had a cigarette! My husband jokes, every time he kisses me, that I’ve just taken a year off his life. Ha ha. But, he has a point. It’s certainly a dirty, disgusting habit, and since he’s seen me quit successfully in the past, just by sheer will, he’s constantly encouraging me to give it a go again. Problem is, I’m a social smoker, I like to smoke when I’m in a crowd, because it gives me something to do with my hands, since I tend to talk by waving them around ridiculously. And, when I’m especially stressed, I tend to find great relief in smoking. I’ve tried chewing gum to curb the desires, and I’ve tried chewing on straws. I’ve tried snapping a rubberband that I keep on my wrist, which a friend of mine recommended, but none of these things were effective in the least. I’ve almost never considered using stop-smoking things found at drugstores, because they are so expensive, at about $50 per kit, and that’s if you find it on sale, but when I figure the cost of smoking, at $6 a pack, and I have about three a week… well, it would certainly even out. So, I decided to try Commit lozenges. I figured the lozenges would be best, because it keeps my mouth occupied, but the directions are very specific about how you use this medication. You have to put the lozenge in your mouth and let it dissolve over a 20-30 minute period, minimizing the amount of swallowing, which is difficult when this stuff builds up in your mouth. Since I work full time, and you are supposed to take about nine of these a day, it’s not exactly practical to keep these things in your mouth for a half an hour, without swallowing all the buildup, and then still manage to talk to customers and effectively do your job. You also cant eat or drink anything 15 minutes prior or while the Price aside, I honestly didn’t feel these helped curb my desire to smoke in the least, especially since my smoking arises from the need to be doing something with my hands, and when I’m in a social setting. After the first two weeks, I just couldn’t fathom continuing to invest in this. If you have to use it for 12 weeks, the cost would have been astronomical, and it’s just not something we can afford all at one time. This is just another product I can add to my list of products that aren’t very effective in helping me quit smoking. The minute I stopped taking these lozenges, I was smoking again, and glad for it, becuase spending that kind of money was stressing me out! Not to mention that these did nothing to improve my mood, which is historically AWFUL when I try to quit smoking. I was stressed out, moody, and just general a nasty person for those two weeks, and I complained about the taste of these lozenges often, because they weren’t yummy, to say the least. All in all, there’s nothing that will convince me to try this product again. Too expensive, and not effective. Rating: 1
