Allstate Car InsuranceItem: Allstate Car Insurance
When I was growing up the only insurance company my parents would use was Allstate and I was added onto my parent’s insurance policy when I became old enough to drive. So Allstate was all I knew and when I was too old to be on their policy I went with them for a policy of my own. Everything seemed to be going fine with them until we needed to file a couple of claims. First our vehicle was broken into. I called them thinking that that is what you do if you have your vehicle broken into but all that it did was make it so that I had to pay more money. I found out years later that you do not let your insurance company know what is going on with your car unless you need your car fixed and the cost is more then your deductible. My worst problem with them came when we were hit head on by a small truck. My van was totaled and my son and I both needed medical care. The auto insurance company of the vehicle that hit us should have been paying for our injuries but most of it was covered by our Personal Injury Protection through Allstate. Getting Allstate to pay was a pain in the rump. I had to call them all the time to see if they were covering the visits and then arguing with them if they were not. They pulled my coverage when I was still seeing the doctor regularly and I never fully recovered. By the time everything was resolved with the insurance company of the guy who hit me, our credit had been negatively affected by medical bills, including ones that should have been paid for by our Personal Injury Protection. I will never be a customer of Allstate again.
