Isuzu Rodeo LS 4×4Item: 1997 Isuzu Rodeo LS 4×4
In the summer of 2004 I purchased a 1997 Isuzu Rodeo LS for $5,500 and it turned out to be one of the best purchases I have ever made. I have owned a number of SUV’s prior to the Rodeo, though none have been nearly as reliable. I bought it with 79,000 miles on it and it currently has 176,000 miles on the odometer.
Never has the vehicle broken down. The 3.2 liter V6 engine delivers plenty of power cruising up mountain passes or off roading trails. The 4 wheel drive system is in my opinion far superior to many off road vehicles including the 89 Jeep Cherokee that I once owned. Low gear is geared very low for extreme climbing. It has operated flawlessly on snowy mountain roads the entire time I have owned it. I once tipped it over on it’s side going 40 mph on a mountain dirt road. I had it tipped back over and it ran the same though it had a half shattered windshield. Talk about sturdy! The interior is deceptively spacious. The rear seat has more legroom than a lot of similar vehicles. This makes my taller friends happy on long ski trips. Plenty of space in the very back as well, I have used it for a lot of gear from mountain bikes to snowboards. If you are in the market for a used SUV, I recommend the 1997 Isuzu Rodeo. Especially if you are the outdoors type. My only complaint is that there are no cup holders. Rating: 10
